At the Tauragė Palace of Culture (3 Darius ir Girėno St.), the Culture Center employees are planning to create an Oak Alley dedicated to the cultural “oaks” of Tauragė region. The first oak tree was planted in 2011 in memory of a cultural figure – Aleksandr Fadin.
Fadin, a folk artist, an artist of Tauragė folk theater, was born in 1911, in the Akmolinsk region (Kazakhstan), in a farmer’s family. After graduating from the local high school, he studied art for two years. Later, he could no longer continue his art studies due to the difficult financial situation, so he acquired the specialty of technician-electrician, and studied at the engineering institute. After the end of the World War II, A. Fadin settled in Taurage and joined the cultural activities of the district. In 1945-1949, he worked as an artist and later as a director of the county cultural house. After the folk song and dance ensemble “Jūra” was founded, he sang in the choir, managed an art studio for children and adults, and created decorations for drama groups. Many talented folk craftsmen emerged from the circle of artists of the House of Culture led by A. Fadin. A. Fadin died on March 9, 1981, having left a bright mark on the cultural life of the district and is buried in Taurage.
