A small, but beautiful, brick, cross-plan, simplified Neo-Byzantine style Church of the Transfiguration of Christ with a wooden bell tower appeared in the estate of I. Vasilčikov in 1865 after reconstruction of the brick vodka warehouse according to the plans approved by Kaunas Bishop Alexander. The facade was reconstructed by Michail Kriukov and Pilyp Polzunov from Kaunas. The reconstruction cost 7922.14 rubles. The church functioned until the establishment of Soviet power in Lithuania. In 1962 some of the church’s art values were handed over to the Vilnius Art Museum, some to the Atheism Museum, some of the items went to Jurbarkas authority institutions and others were looted. The largest and the most beautiful icon painted by A. Venitsianov is in Kiev. The closed church was a high school dance hall for a long time, then a vegetable warehouse for a public catering company. In 1989-2001 the restoration of the building took place and now it is an Exhibition and Concert Hall.
