Coordinates: 55.080648 22.736568

Object address: Muitinės gatvė, Jurbarkas, Lietuva

Municipality: Jurbarkas district

It was known that in this place after the war (1944-1953) the soviet collaborates brought here to bury the bodies of partisans which were killed or perished in battles; and their supporters. Around 1980 workers while digging on both sides of the road a well for a waterworks chamber found many bones and shoe soles. But then it was talked about in whispers. In 1992 relatives searched for the remains of the victims, but in vain.

It was decided to commemorate this place. The cross was unveiled on September 8, 1993. It was erected thanks to the joint efforts of Jurbarkas district society, former partisans, exiles, political prisoners, and the municipality. The author of the monument is architect Ramūnas Kamaitis from Kaunas. Jurbarkas architects R. Eigėlis and A. Žvinys provided consultations during the construction.

On October 28, 1993 workers at the watering place unearthed human remains while digging the track. On October 29, with the participation of the commission for the transfer and commemoration of the remains of resistance fighters and other persons killed during the occupation regime, the remains were exhumed. In the Vilnius Medical and Psychiatric Center it was determined that there was one woman and eight men. Their ages and the nature of injuries were determined. On March 11, 1994 the remains were solemnly reburied in the old Jurbarkas cemetery.

On the initiative of the Jurbarkas Riflemen, a wooden cross was built in that place and surrounded by a fence. In 2016 it was renewed by the Jurbarkas Petras Paulaitis company of the 7th GDL Kęstutis Riflemen Unit. The author is a rifleman Vytautas Jurgis Kairys, who made an iron cross. The cross cost just 5 euros because money was donated by people and the stone was given by a person who demolished a house in the center of Jurbarkas.
