Memorial plate for Jurgis Arnašius

1 August 2017 marked the opening of the memorial plate with a sculptural relief, installed on a building on Jūros Street 1, in memory of Jurgis Arnašius. In 1924–1934 he used to work as the court’s translator in this very building.
Jurgis Arnašius was born on 12 February 1872 in Vanagai (Klaipėda district). He was a signatory of the Act of Tilsit, a distributor of Lithuanian press, editor, member of the Lithuanian Literary Society and worked in Lithuania Minor. He died on 23 June 1934 in Klaipėda. Buried at the cemetery of Vanagai.
The author of the memorial plate is Petras Šmitas, Chairman of Klaipėda District Department of the Lithuania Minor Affairs Council.
