The diameter of the oak tree is 2.46 m and it is 21 m high. It is located in the Nausėdis district, in Vieštovėnai village. In 1960, the oak tree was declared a natural monument.
The tree is planted in Mingėla’s yard and it received the name due to its location. It is believed that the Mingėla oak tree can be 600 to 700 years old. Old tales mention that when the Samogitians were converted to Christianity, the top of the oak tree was cut off and a chapel was hoisted to the top.
The firth generation of the Mingėla family is safeguarding the oak tree. The tree is now fenced off and an iron rim is holding the cracking stem together.
