The so called forestry office is situated in the south-western part of Karklė village. It is presumed that the homestead existed here already in the second half of the 19th c. – early 20th c., but there is no exact data. In the first half of the 20th c. the western and south-western edge of the homestead was arable land. During the second part of the 20th c. the buildings were reconstructed, introducing a deal auxiliary building in the north-east of the yard.

During the first half of the 20th c. the homestead belonged to Dambriai, a family of agrarian farmers. In the early 20th c. in the south-eastern part of the village they owned a large homestead, which later was inherited by the family of their daughter, while they moved to the newly-built brick buildings here. During the first part of the 20th c. the locals referred to the ornate residential building as the vila Grunwald, at the end of the World War II the owners of the homestead moved to Germany. For some time after the war the homestead was inhabited by a Latvian man named Bušis, circa 1964 it became the home of the forest keeper Paulauskas and since then the homestead has been referred to as the forestry office. In the second half of the 20th c. the homestead was reconstructed.
