The Kretinga (Klibiai) Basin Stone lies in the courtyard in front of the mansion of the Kretinga Museum. Like the other basin stone, this one is believed to have originated from the same era. It was found in the pastures of the Klibiai village, next to the early farms when a land improvement squad ripped it out of the ground. It was originally taken to the scrapheap to be crushed, but Petras Rutkauskas, a member of the board for the Kretinga Land Improvement Committee informed Ignas Jablonskis, an employee of the museum, about the discovery. Jablonskis organised the transportation of the stone to the courtyard of the Kretinga Museum.

The basin does not seem to be affected by fire, which leads to believe that fires were lit near the stone and not on it. Jablonskis set out to study the location of the stone and to find out more about the purpose of the stone. He noticed a lot of soot and carbon formations in the soil around the former location of the stone.

The basin stone became the first exhibit in the Kretinga Museum when the museum was relocated into the mansion of the Kretinga Manor.
