At Biržos bridge, on the right side of Danė river embankment the little ground is decorated by sculpture of „The little mermaid“, which is surfaced like to relax on trawls. The sculptural composition of marinistic theme „The little mermaid“ adorns Danė embankment from 15 January 2015. There was used 140 kg of bronze for sculpture of 1,2 m width and 1,6 m height, whereas tail of the little mermaid is decorated by coins of litas. „The little mermaid“ is created by sculptor Klaudijus Pūdymas who playfully tried to interpret the myth about Jūratė and Kastytis. Author of sculpture states that the little mermaid has magical powers – everybody having rubbed snake, tangled on her hands, can expect wishes come true. Henceforth Klaipėda joined the list of approximately 150 cities with a landscape adorned with the mermaid statue. Sculpture of „The little mermaid“ is a gift of Lithuanian Maritime Academy to Klaipėda city.
