The Complex of Tunnels of Klaipėda Old City Fortifications Used as Antiaircraft Hiding Places

During the Second World War, the bastion fortifications of the 17th – 18th centuries were included in the defence system of the city. Antiaircraft hiding places were installed upon cutting out vaults in the posterns of the old fortifications. In October 1944, these objects were used as hiding places from the bombers’ and artillery attacks by the residents of the city.
The object is marked with a military heritage symbol.
