Liepų Street bridge over Dangė river was built in 1880 after extending Liepų Street and building a new road to Plikiai. This bridge also served for the narrow-gauge railway, built before the World War I. 1904-1906 marked the construction of three 1000 mm gauge railway sections: Klaipėda-Pėžaičiai (length – 34.8 km); Klemiškė (Klemmenhof)-Plikiai (34.8 km); Dovilai-Laugaliai (4.6 km). The narrow-gauge railway network connected Klaipėda with Pėžaičiai, Bajorai, Laukgaliai and Plikiai. During the World War I the Liepų Street bridge across Danė river was bombed and the railway was almost unused. In the city this railway network connected with the city’s tramway lines and thus the railway cars brought to the city could be distributed to their destinations using special electric locomotives. The narrow-gauge railway of Klaipėda district operated under the name of Memeler Kleinbahn until 1944. After the World War II the railway lines were dismantled. In 2007 the bridge over Danė has undergone capital renovations. Under the bridge on the shore of Danė there is an opening for pedestrians and bicyclers.
