The Sculpture of Artist Juozas Bagdonas

A monument, created by Juozas Bagdonas (1911–2005), an exodus artist, was placed in 1997, in the square where Rietavo and Minijos streets meet. It is a metal statue, characterised by expressive forms, an original colour scheme, and a modern look. The sculpture is a gift to Samogitia, where the author himself was born.

J. Bagdonas was born in Vydeikiai village, Plungė district. He emigrated west during the war. In 1999, he returned to Plungė from the United States.
