The square in front of the Maritime School (present day Lithuanian Maritime Academy on 7 I. Kanto st.) was also a location of a monument to Stalin. Various school events and graduation ceremonies took place next to this monument. Between 1956 and 1958, all imagery of Stalin was being removed and the aforementioned monument was no exception.
