Immortalizing the memory of the writer, on 23 July of 1998 on the wall of the house in Herkus Mantas street 47, where I.Šeinius lived from 1935 to 1939 a memorial plaque with bas relief was unveiled. Author – sculptor A.Sakalauskas.
Ignas Šeinius (real – Jurkūnas) was born 02.04.1889 in Šeiniūnai (Širvintai region). In 1912-1915 he studied at the Moscow University, Faculty of History and Philosophy.  
In 1935–1939 he was a press adviser of Klaipėda Region Governor. In 1938 he reported on a thought Klaipėda Governor „to write a popular and picturesque brochure, which would stimulate national ambition of Klaipėda Region Lithuanians…“. Such a book „Kas tu esi, lietuvi?“ („Who are you, Lithuanian?“) was published in 1938 by pseudonym of Irvis Gedainis. In February of 1939 in Klaipėda Theatre there was built up I.Šeinius comedy „Diplomats“. Besides position of a press adviser of Klaipėda Region Governor, I.Šeinius was a Chairman of Klaipėda branch of Lithuanian Journalists‘ Union, one of the founders of Rotary Club in Klaipėda and for some time secretary, a board member of Klaipėda Department of Tourism Association; as well he manifested as nationalist, in 1936 acted as a Chairman of Academic Committee of the Sea Day, wrote the words of oath to sea for academic youth. In 1939 after Nazis having occupied Klaipėda and Governor having moved to Kaunas, I. Šeinius worked there until liquidation (01.01.1940), took care of the victims‘ relief of the Klaipėda region.                 
In 1908 he made his debut in creation. The first literary attempts were changed by mature works: the novel „Kuprelis“ (1913), the stories „Mėnesiena“ (Moonlight) (1912), „Bangos siaučia“ (The waves rage)(1912-1913), „Vasaros vaišės“ (Summer feast) (1913-1914). The writer published lyrical and satirical short stories, essays on various topics. In Sweden he published essay „Litauisk kultur“ (Lithuanian culture, 1917), collection of poetry in proze „Natt och soll“ (Night and Sun, 1918). As well he published anti-Nazi satire novel „Siegried Immerselbe atsinaujina“ (Siegried Immerselbe renewed) (1934), the book „Tėviškės padangėje“ (In the Homeland Sky“) (1937), collection of short stories „Aš dar kartą grįžtu“ (Once again I come back) (1937), the comedy „Diplomatai“ (Diplomats) (1937). Retreated to Sweden, I. Šeinius wrote mainly in Swedish – wrote „Raudonasis tvanas“ (Red Flood), depicting events in Lithuania after 1939, and other works.
